A Hideo Kojima game has been added to a banner for first-party PlayStation titles from PlayStation Studios. Hideo Kojima has worked closely with PlayStation since leaving Konami after the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain In 2015. After a very public breakup, PlayStation backed his first indie game, which was later revealed as death strand. Although it was also on PC, it was locked to PlayStation platforms on consoles and this is likely where the franchise will remain. However, Hideo Kojima is currently independent and is allowed to operate as he pleases. A rumor from 2021 suggested that Hideo Kojima is working with Xbox on a new cloud-based horror game, but it hasn’t been officially confirmed in any capacity.
Sony has updated the PlayStation Studios banner to remove it Concrete harvest From a group of games and replace them with death strand (via Reset user Toumari). Fans took a special note of this death strand It is the only game in the lineup that was not made by a Sony-owned studio. Sony officially owns death strand as an IP address, so that’s probably why it’s included, but some fans hope this means Sony has acquired Hideo Kojima’s studio. Recently there were rumors of a massive PlayStation acquisition on the horizon, but nothing came of it. It’s unclear if Kojima will be open about his lack of independence, but he’s been taking interesting steps recently. Hideo Kojima and the Kojima Productions team are moving offices, leading many to believe the developer is expanding a bit.
Hideo Kojima is working on two games at the moment, he thinks one of them is too Death Stranding 2. The developer has yet to provide any details on its next project, but has confirmed that it will appear at The Game Awards 2022, likely with the first trailer for its new game in hand. We will likely have to wait until then for any other material information.
